Trophy Class Woodland Caribou Hunts

We love finding those incredible locations throughout North America for world-class woodland caribou and putting our hunters in those camps! Woodland caribou are the smallest species of North American caribou (except for some of the arctic island caribou), with All-Time Boone and Crockett record book animals scoring 295 inches of antler. Our outfitters have good herds of caribou to hunt; in a typical year, 40% or more of the caribou will make the Boone and Crockett Record Book! With our extensive research and outfitter connections, we can help you find that trophy woodland caribou you have always wanted.

Types of Woodland Caribou Hunts

You are hiking on the boggy tundra of Newfoundland and come around a clump of tuckamore and see a group of woodland caribou. There is an old mature herd bull, grunting and chasing off three other trophy bulls from his harem, lunging as he runs around, splashing in the wet bog. You watch the events unfold as you decide which bull you want to harvest. There is nothing like hunting the majestic woodland caribou.

Woodland caribou live in central Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and parts of Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick but are not sport-hunted in those locations. If you want to hunt the woodland caribou, you will be hunting Newfoundland. They are medium-sized caribou, and their antlers are generally the smallest of the caribou types. Tag allocations are very limited, and hunts tend to be expensive but are highly successful for trophy-class bulls.

Hunts usually occur in September and October. Base camps are very nice, and we often use comfortable spike camps on fly-out hunts. These hunts are usually done on a fly-out basis to get hunters in areas with concentrations of caribou. Hunting will then take place on foot, but the terrain is generally such that anyone can do these hunts.

Places we offer Quality Woodland Caribou Hunts

We offer woodland caribou hunts in Newfoundland. Our locations and outfitters are carefully selected based on the quality and quantity of animals, recent population trends, and the outfitters’ track record of putting our hunters on good caribou. We are passionate caribou hunters here at Infinity Hunts and understand what it takes to get a big caribou on the ground.

Newfoundland Woodland Caribou Hunts and Outfitters

Hunts take place mainly in September and October during the rut time frame. Expect to access most hunt areas by helicopter or float plane and hunt on foot. You can also access hunting locations with boats, Argos, and ATVs. Main camps can be quite nice, and spike camps will also be comfortable. You can add moose and black bear to these hunts for the Newfoundland Grand Slam. Caribou quality and numbers are exceptional, and our outfitters take a high percentage of record book animals annually, with both archery and firearm equipment. Tags are extremely limited, and our outfitters work hard to ensure everyone gets an opportunity at a trophy bull.

We are constantly in the field seeking additional great outfitters and world-class trophy woodland caribou hunts. So if you are looking for an excellent woodland caribou hunt and outfitter, please contact us so we can start putting together the perfect woodland caribou hunt for you.
